Children’s Health Defense has filed a federal RICO lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics, accusing the organization of fraudulent vaccine safety claims while receiving pharmaceutical funding.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (Case No. 1:26-cv-00171), alleges AAP violated racketeering laws by making “false and fraudulent” safety claims about CDC’s childhood immunization schedule while maintaining financial relationships with vaccine manufacturers and incentivizing pediatricians for high vaccination rates.
CHD CEO Mary Holland said AAP “is a front operation in a racketeering scheme involving Big Pharma, Big Medicine and Big Media, ready at every turn to put profits above children’s health.”
The complaint centers on a 2002 Pediatrics article by Dr. Paul Offit claiming infants could “theoretically” receive 10,000 vaccines simultaneously without health risk. AAP incorporated this claim into its Red Book clinical guidebook, which became standard reference material for pediatricians nationwide. Attorney Rick Jaffe, representing plaintiffs, compared the case to the successful RICO prosecution of Big Tobacco, saying AAP “created false certainty to foreclose questions” about vaccine safety.
